Grandparents really don't have any rights even though they have had custody legally. There have been many supreme court rulings about this and grandparents have lost. I for one just lost my visitation because of 2unfounded reports to CPS. They were only unfounded because they did not meet the criteria of imminent danger. My granddaughter who is 3 has been neglected all her life but the courts protect the parents. I am not suggesting that you did anything to your children, I am just sharing my short form of a very very long story. Your attorney can file a motion for them to pay your attornye's fees and more than likely the judge will make them pay.Your parents think they are in the right oviously but the court will not see it their way, I assure you. Hope this helps. The first hearing could go several ways. The judge could make a decision right then because the grandparents don't have proof of anything or they could set another court date, order a homestudy etc. but my guess, it will be short and the judge will be on your side.
