home study questions

I have my neice living with me due to the fact that her mother (my sister) has "run off" and we haven't heard a word from her in over 6 weeks. Right now I have "temporary" custody. I go back to court in a couple of months for "full custody" - in the meantime I am required to have a home study done. I thought they just talked to us, watched our interaction with the child and checked out the house. But the in the letter I received from Childrens Services, they are asking all kinds of questions. One question that really bothers me is "Have you ever been arrested?" I have not, but my husband has had a DUI in the last ten years. Is this going to be an issue? They are also asking us to sign a release form so that they can pull any records regarding us that may have ever existed... medical records, hospital records, credit reports, ect. We are not in any major financial troubles, but we have had late payments and our credit report is going to show that. Is that going to be an issue too? My neice doesn't have anyone else but us!!

Anyone with any advise, please help. I had no idea that a "home study" was so deep - especially when there is no one contesting the custody!
